Description
The objective of this course is to provide general knowledge of basic fire prevention and fire-fighting fundamentals.

Topics

  • A fire consists of three elements: Fuel, Heat, and Oxygen. The student will learn that in order to extinguish a fire one of these elements must be eliminated, or dissolved by chemical reaction.
  • There are four classes of fires (A, B, C, & D), and each type of fire requires an appropriate fire suppression agent. The student will learn the different fire suppression agents and the types of fires they extinguish.
  • There are two types of hand-held fire extinguisher: Stored Pressure and Cartridge Operated. At the conclusion of this course the student will have a better understanding of the extinguishing agents and components.
